RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
The Beer Wholesaler as Responsible Citizen
Beer wholesalers are committed to ensuring that the products they provide are used legally, moderately, responsibly and safely. The more than 95,000 American men, women and families who are in the beer wholesaling industry care how their businesses affect the community.
Wholesalers are a critical part of the solution to the problems of drunk driving, alcohol abuse and illegal underage drinking. Wholesalers nationwide are sponsors and participants in many community-based efforts such as school education programs, safe rides home, steering wheel locking devices to stop repeat drunk driving offenders, the creation and placement of public service announcements and education materials, recycling programs, alcohol-free after prom and graduation parties, training courses for licensed beverage servers, safe boating campaigns, designated driver programs and hosts to special events benefiting local charities.
The California Beer and Beverage Distributors sponsors a responsible teenage lifestyle speaker, Jim Rockwell, who has made inspirational presentations to junior and senior high school students statewide. During Jim's high school years he was involved in a serious accident which left him in a coma for six weeks. He then underwent months of recuperating and therapy for both his speech and motor skills. To obtain a video about Jim contact Rhonda Stevenson at 800.952.8308.
